General Information
Q: What meal plan options are available at Rhodes College?
A: Rhodes College offers several meal plan options to accommodate different student needs. These include:
- Unlimited Plan: Unlimited meals per week.
- 15 Meal Plan: 15 meals per week.
- 7 Meal Plan: 7 meals per week. Only available for students residing in East Village A&B, East Village C Townhouse, Parkway Hall, or Spann Place
- Commuter Plans: Commuters may select 5, 7, 15, or unlimited meals per week.
Q: How do I choose or change my meal plan?
A: First-year students are assigned an unlimited meal plan. Returning students are given the opportunity to choose the board plan they prefer prior to the start of the school year. Board plan changes for returning students are accepted through the end of the first week of classes each semester. Non-resident students may purchase one of the commuter meal plan options by contacting Rhodes Express prior to the beginning of the semester. For assistance, contact Rhodes Express at express@rhodes.edu.
Resident students may change their board plan choice for the fall semester by logging into https://rhodes.erezlife.com/ with their regular Rhodes credentials and choosing "My meal plans" on the left side of the screen. Commuting students may add a commuter meal plan by emailing express@rhodes.edu.
Q: Do I have to have a meal plan?
A: All residential students are required to have a meal plan. First-year students are assigned an unlimited meal plan. All returning students must choose a 15-meal or unlimited meal plan package. East Village A&B, Parkway Hall, Spann Place, and East Village C and Townhouse residents may choose a 7-meal plan package.
Meal Plan Usage
Q: Where can I use my meal plan?
A: Meal plans can be used at the following locations on campus:
- The Refectory (main dining hall)
- Lynx Lair (food court)
- Middle Ground (coffee shop)
Q: What does a swipe get me at the Lynx Lair?
A: One meal swipe allows you to dine freestyle from any or all, of the Lair’s dining concepts. Ins and outs and subsequent visits after moving to the seating area will require a new meal swipe; however, multiple swipes are permitted in the same meal period.
Q: Can I use my meal plan for guest meals?
A: Lynx Bucks can be used for guest meals. The unlimited meal plan is intended only for the individual students who purchased the meal plan. The unlimited meal plan is not intended to buy food for others (ex. tacos for entire table of friends, students that didn't purchase an unlimited plan, etc.). This is a violation of the Honor Code. Students who wish to do this will need to use their Lynx Bucks or Bonus Bucks.
Q: What are Lynx Bucks, and how do they work?
A: Lynx Bucks are part of your meal plan and can be used like a debit card at any on-campus dining location. Each meal plan includes $100 of Lynx Bucks per semester. They can be used to purchase additional meals, snacks, or beverages.
Q: When can I use my meal plan?
The meal plan is effective at the beginning of each semester term. The first meal served is typically dinner on the Sunday before the first day of classes for that term. The last meal served for the semester term will be the breakfast meal following the last day of final exams for that semester term. All scheduled serving days are in accordance with the College academic calendar and are subject to change if the calendar should be revised. Meal plans are not active during academic breaks.
Special Dietary Needs
Q: What options are available for students with dietary restrictions?
A: Rhodes College Dining Services offers a variety of options for students with dietary restrictions, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and allergen-free meals. For specific needs, contact the Bon Appetit to discuss available accommodations.
Q: How can I communicate my dietary needs to Dining Services?
A: Students with specific dietary needs should contact Bon Appetit to ensure their needs are met. Bon Appétit's Southeast-Midwest Regional Dietician, Dan Connolly, is also available to meet with students to develop a plan that may include special meal preparations or access to special products to address specific dietary concerns. Contact Daniel.Connolly@cafebonappetit.com to schedule a meeting.
Meal Plan Policies
Q: What happens if I miss a meal?
A: Missed meals/unused meal swipes do not carry over to the next week. However, Lynx Bucks can be used to purchase meals at any time.
Q: Can I change my meal plan mid-semester?
A: No. Meal plan changes for returning students are accepted through the end of the first week of classes each semester. Meal plan changes are generally only allowed at the beginning of each semester. For assistance, resident students can log into https://rhodes.erezlife.com/ with their regular Rhodes credentials and choose "My meal plans" on the left side of the screen. Commuter students can contact Rhodes Express at express@rhodes.edu.
Q: What is the policy for unused meals or Lynx Bucks at the end of the semester?
A: Unused meals do not carry over to the next semester. Lynx Bucks carry over from the fall semester to the spring semester. Lynx Bucks expire at the end of the academic year.
