Purpose
The Campus Safety Advisory Board is a multidisciplinary team of faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community members who work collaboratively to foster a safe and healthy campus environment.
This Board’s primary focus and role is to serve as an ongoing partner with our dedicated campus safety team to enhance inclusive, fair, and equitable security practices across the college. We will foster dialogue, share community feedback and ideas, and make recommendations for improving campus and individual safety.
The Board is not empowered to change or modify state law, college ordinances, contracts, or Department policies and procedures.
The committee’s responsibilities will include:
- Address the Campus Safety Task Force recommendations and introduce new ideas to enhance existing administrative policies and practices.
- Collaborate with college leadership, community partners, and the Department of Campus Safety to identify opportunities to improve campus safety and security policies, practices, services, physical environments, and communications.
- Provide ongoing guidance for establishing platforms for receiving feedback from and communicating with Rhodes students, staff, and faculty.
- Collect feedback from the Rhodes campus community regarding functional areas of safety and well-being services.
- Advise the President on trends, developments, or national best practices that could support and enhance a safe, supportive, and welcoming campus culture.
- Meet periodically with the President to discuss issues, concerns, and progress on our commitment to creating a safe campus.
