New International Students Move-In: August 19, 2024

International students arriving for their first year at Rhodes College will move in on August 19, 2024. We are committed to ensuring a smooth transition for our international community and will provide additional information tailored to your needs, including orientation schedules and support services. Please check your email and the international students' webpage for further details.

Incoming Students Move-In: August 21, 2024

Move-in day for incoming students is an exciting time as you begin your journey at Rhodes College. Specific details regarding move-in logistics, including parking and unloading instructions, will be provided via email closer to the date. Please keep an eye on your Rhodes email and the Rhodes College website for updates.

Lynx take care of one another! In this session students will learn about the Green Dot Program we utilize at Rhodes and how we use the 3 Ds to look out for one another. Students will also have the opportunity to connect with their PA group around this topic.

Health Professions Advising

Students interested in pursuing a career in a health profession or veterinary medicine are strongly encouraged to attend this session. We will provide an overview of our services, discuss upcoming programming, begin developing a timeline to graduation, and students will meet their advisor. Students unable to attend should email hpa@rhodes.edu

Language Placement
Faculty will be available to provide information about curricular and co-curricular opportunities for language study and answer any of your questions about online placement results. During this session, follow-up testing will be discussed if you scored at the 202 level or above on the online placement exam. Chinese, Greek, Hebrew, and Latin exams will be administered, or placement recommendations clarified.

The introductory plenary of Search is an opportunity to learn about the nature of Humanities 101 with students who love the course. Each section of Search will meet with their student mentor from the Rhodes Caracal Society. This mentor will help them form a sense of community as a section and introduce them to what they can expect over the course of the semester.

Introduction to Pathways to Cultural Knowledge 
Hardie Auditorium
In addition to providing a quick overview of the goals and expectations for Pathways to Cultural Knowledge, this introductory session will provide an opportunity for students to get to know their instructor as well as others who are enrolled in the sequence. Perhaps most importantly, though, there will also be ample time for students to ask all the questions they might have about how these courses will contribute meaningfully to their first year at Rhodes!

In our session, we will provide information about the unique urban, justice, and equity focus of our program as well as the different pathways our program provides.

Exploring Entrepreneurship

The Rhodes College Entrepreneurship Program offers a foundational experience that ignites creative thinking and entrepreneurial spirit. Learn about our interactive classes, hands-on projects, and opportunities to engage with seasoned entrepreneurs. This program equips students with the essential skills and knowledge to explore and develop their own business ideas, laying the groundwork for success in any entrepreneurial endeavor.

Rhodes College first-year students sign an Honor Code Pledge each fall in which they commit to upholding the school's honor system. The honor system outlines the Honor Code, Standards of Conduct, and Commitment to Diversity. The pledge includes a commitment to:

  • Not lie, cheat, or steal,
  • Report any violations they witness,
  • Respect their fellow students, faculty, and staff, and their property,
  • Treat others as they would want to be treated.

Tocarra Elise is a comedian, writer, and actress based in New York City. She is most known for her work as a writer on the Emmy-nominated show THE PROBLEM WITH JON STEWART, earning her four WGA award nominations. She was also a frequent guest on the show’s WEBBY award-winning companion podcast.

Hospitality Information:

Memphis offers a wide variety of religious and spiritual communities to explore. The Chaplain of Rhodes College, Chaplain Beatrix, serves as Parish Associate Pastor at Evergreen Presbyterian Church, and is happy to make recommendations about religious communities if you tell her what you're looking for! Locations particularly hospitable to prayer and meditation on campus at Rhodes include the Muslim Prayer Room in the lower level of the Library, the meditation area of the Interfaith Lounge on the fourth floor of Burrow Hall, the chapels in Bellingrath Hall and Voorhies Hall, and the outdoor labyrinth located inside the gate at University and N.
