With a World of Choices, Landon Fulton Chooses Rhodes

The best learning opportunities are not measured by miles. That’s why Memphis-area resident Landon Fulton ’27 chose to get a world-class liberal arts education right at home at Rhodes College. And his decision was made after having been accepted to 31 colleges across the country and being offered more than $1 million in scholarships.

Fulton, was attracted to attending a smaller liberal arts college for its close-knit community. “The biggest reason I chose Rhodes is because I wanted to be in a community where my professor knows who I am, I know who my classmates are, and I know who my peers are. And I’m able to grow relationships with them.”  Read More >>

Elliott Presents Research at Epilepsy Conference

A native Memphian, Elliott likes to say he’s been pre-med for as long as he can remember. He gained medical experiences in the Memphis area even before starting college, and was introduced to additional opportunities for clinical experience through Rhodes’ Health Professions Advising (HPA) department.

“I was immediately drawn to the Le Bonheur program, It offers a full clinical experience that concludes with the completion of a research project, so it’s an amazing opportunity for students in any discipline on the pre-med track," says Elliott. "It was the right decision for me and has since reaffirmed my interest in pursuing a professional degree in medicine."  Read More >>

A graduate of Memphis’ White Station High School, Kelley came to Rhodes as a participant of the Clarence Day Scholar program, in which students participate in events related to the Day Foundation and in Memphis leadership initiatives.

“If it were not for my acceptance into the Day Scholar Program, I don’t think I would have been able to further my education,” says Kelley. “No other program offered me this much financial support, and all because I am a Memphian that loves and cares for my city.”  Read More >>

Native Memphian Penelope Link never expected to find herself attending college in her hometown.

"I was looking at DePaul, Loyola Chicago, and the University of Illinois, but I am so glad that I ended up at Rhodes because I’ve been able to have opportunities for personal relationships with staff and peers that are unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before."

Link is a Curb fellow, where she has explored the Memphis music community and engaged in rewarding documentary research with writer and filmmaker Robert Gordon. Penelope's love for art and history has led her to pursue a major in art history, which she plans to combine with a music minor.

"I think that a liberal arts education, in general, is special because you get to try so many different things. And if you're the kind of person who likes to explore and try new things, going to a liberal arts college really helps you figure out what you want to do. The people and resources there will help you make a plan and push towards the future."
