This is a bilateral exchange. The University of Antwerp (UFSIA) is one of the most distinguished universities in Belgium. It attracts students from all over Europe. As a medium-sized university, UFSIA’s enrollment totals approximately 3,500 full-time students. Faculty and staff include some 600 members.
The Faculty of Applied Economics is one of the largest and most famous in the country (with approximately 2,500 students). It is still situated in 16th century unique historical buildings in the center of the city, while the Law, Languages, History, Literature, Philosophy and Political and Social Sciences are accommodated in modern buildings nearby.
Students will appreciate Antwerp’s location in Europe. Brussels, the capital of Belgium is a twenty minute train ride away. Now commonly called "the capital of Europe," Brussels hosts European Union and NATO headquarters, as well as many other organizations.
From Antwerp you can quickly and at a reasonable price reach Amsterdam (2 hours), Luxembourg (3 hours), Paris (3 1/2 hours), London (4 hours) and many German cities. Weekend travel is a real possibility. Accommodation is provided in student housing. Students may study for either a semester or academic year. Exchange Students are responsible for obtaining their own visas. Countries′ immigration policies change periodically; the absolute best source of information is the Consulate of the country for which you′re attempting to obtain a visa.
A student visa is a document issued by a country granting an individual permission to enter a country with the express purpose of completing studies there at a recognized institution. The process of obtaining a visa to study in another country can take weeks or months, so it is important to begin the process as soon as possible after being accepted to the exchange. Without a visa, you may not be allowed to enter the foreign country, even upon arrival at their airport.
