Pre-Mester FAQs

Course Registration

We will honor one of the three courses that you request(ed) in your application, but we cannot guarantee a specific course placement until the Pre-Mester registration closes. In most cases, you will be enrolled in your first choice.

Billing and Payment Information

The bill for Pre-Mester will be applied to your fall  tuition statement, which will be available in mid-July.

Please visit our Rhodes Express webpage to learn more about the billing and payment policies at Rhodes College.

Residence Hall Information

Information about your residence hall and housing assignment will be sent to your Rhodes email address. In the meantime, check out our recommended packing list.

Cancellation & Withdrawal Policy

The deposit is non-refundable.

Students will be notified of their Pre-Mester Schedule on June 30.

Students who wish to cancel their registration for Pre-Mester, must do so prior to July 6, 2021, to avoid charges to their accounts for Pre-Mester tuition and room and board. Rhodes makes financial commitments on students’ behalf well in advance of the start of each Rhodes program, including the Pre-Mester. Hence, requests for cancellation after July 6th will need to be submitted in writing to the Associate Dean for Student Success for review.

Once classes have begun, all requests for withdrawal must be initiated by the student through the Associate Dean for Student Success. The official date of withdrawal will be the date when approval is obtained from the Associate Dean. A student can receive a pro-rated refund only in the event that he or she withdraws due to protracted illness or injury that prevents completion of the academic work and, as such, is certified by a physician, psychologist, or other qualified professional. The pro-rata charge for refund will be made only on recoverable costs like room & board.

Health Insurance

Rhodes College requires all students to have accident, sickness and hospitalization insurance coverage. Students may be covered under a family policy or a private carrier, and insurance coverage must continue as long as the student is enrolled.

Rhodes College offers a student health insurance plan to ensure that all students have access to comprehensive health insurance in Memphis while attending college. The coverage for this plan will be effective on August 1, 2021.  If you are planning to enroll in the Rhodes Health Insurance plan, you will need to be sure to keep your family plan active until August 1st to avoid a lapse in coverage while attending the Pre-Mester.  For more information on the Rhodes College Health Insurance requirement, please click here.

COVID-19 Plan

Our plan is for Pre-Mester to be held on campus. If it is determined that face to face instruction is not possible due to health and safety concerns due to increased COVID-19 cases in Shelby County, all students will be notified via email and provided with the opportunity to:
1) Cancel their registration; or
2) Complete the course requirements remotely. The charges for room and board will be removed from the students’ account.
