To promote equity in education and productive collaboration, the Educational Studies program at Rhodes College has partnered with other institutions to implement a pipeline program that will provide highly qualified and motivated students interested in entering the teaching field with guaranteed admission to Rhodes’ Master of Arts in Urban Education program.

Partnerships are currently in place with Millsaps College and Birmingham Southern College.

The criteria by which Millsaps and Birmingham Southern graduates may receive guaranteed admission to the Master of Arts in Urban Education program at Rhodes include:

  1. Completion of a bachelor’s degree in the content area a student wishes to teach in (for secondary candidates) or in a liberal arts or science field (for elementary candidates)
  2. A cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.00 or higher
  3. Qualifying PRAXIS I (Praxis® Core Academic Skills for Educators) and subject area PRAXIS scores (Praxis® Subject Assessments) as required by the Tennessee Board of Education. Passing scores can be found on the ETS Tennessee requirements webpage.

Applicants for the pipeline program are also required to complete the general requirements for admission to the Master of Arts in Urban Education program, including the submission of a personal statement and two letters of recommendation.
