Sharwil Bell ’12 Nominated for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award

Former Rhodes student-athlete Sharwil Bell has been selected as a Top 30 honoree for the 2012 NCAA Woman of the Year Award. The 30 honorees, which include representatives from each NCAA division, will be narrowed to nine finalists. The 2012 NCAA Woman of the Year will then be chosen from among the nine finalists by the NCAA Committee on Women’s Athletics. The NCAA will salute the achievements and accomplishments of the honorees at the 2012 NCAA Woman of the Year awards dinner to be held Sunday, October 14, in Indianapolis.
Previously, Sharwil was named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District® Women′s Basketball Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Bell, who maintained a 3.94 GPA as a Biology major, was named to the District V first-team. She was also a finalist for the national Jostens Trophy honoring the most outstanding women′s Division III basketball players of the year.
