Rhodes Team Wins “Best New Delegation Award” in Nashville Competition
Publication Date: 11/28/2011
Before the Thanksgiving break, the newly formed Rhodes chapter of the Tennessee Intercollegiate State Legislature (TISL) competed in its first General Assembly and moot court competition in Nashville.
The 11-member team made a big presence winning the “Best New Delegation Award.”
TISL is a mock government program in which students mimic the functions of the Tennessee State government. The Rhodes legislature team wrote and submitted 11 bills, and several of them were passed into law. “The entire Rhodes legislative team was widely complimented on the thoroughness and clarity of their bills,” says the team’s moderator, Professor Stephen Wirls.
In addition, the Rhodes moot court team received the “Best Brief” award as determined by a panel of attorneys.
