Rhodes′ Society of Physics Students Honored for Outreach
Publication Date: 8/29/2011
The Society of Physics Students (SPS) has awarded the Rhodes chapter with its 2011 Blake Lilly Prize. This honor recognizes SPS chapters and individuals who make a genuine effort to positively influence the attitudes of school children and the general public about physics.
Only Rhodes and four other schools—Idaho State University, Penn State University, Drexel University and Henderson State University—received this year’s Blake Lilly Prize.
“The award demonstrates the physics department’s commitment to involving students in the community and to create enthusiasm about physics,” says Rhodes SPS Secretary Evan Nelsen ’12. “SPS’s involvement in the community reflects the commitment of Rhodes College as a whole.”
