USA Today Blog Shows Bonner Scholars Donning Red Sneakers at Graduation

Bonner Scholars at Rhodes are featured in USA Today’s college blog on “What Did Your School’s Graduation Look Like?”

Bonner Scholars come to Rhodes committed to doing service for four years, and they wear red Converse sneakers at commencement to shows they plan to “walk loud” and make a difference in the world.

Alumna and trustee Mickey Babcock started the tradition in 1998 when she purchased red high-tops for the Bonner Scholars who graduated with her.

The USA Today piece also includes an essay by Bonner Scholar Katy Johnson ’11.
