Rhodes Professors to Discuss Shakespeare and Music at Playhouse on the Square

On Jan. 23 at Playhouse on the Square, Rhodes Professors Dr. Donald Jellerson (English) and Dr. Vanessa Rogers (Music) will discuss the history and practice of adapting Shakespeare’s works to music. The discussion will follow the 2 p.m. matinee performance of Michael Ching′s new musical adaptation of a “Midsummer Night′s Dream.”
At Rhodes, Jellerson teaches Shakespeare and Renaissance English literature courses. Rogers teaches music history and literature courses, and her primary area of research is 18th-century English stage music. She also has written on the subject of orchestral seating in 18th-century London theatres.
Playhouse on the Square is located at 66 South Cooper.
