Rhodes Groups Help Raise Awareness About Need for Child Advocates
Publication Date: 3/26/2010
Volunteers from Rhodes’ Kappa Delta Sorority, CASA interns, and Bonner Scholars have committed to the Lights of Hope Campaign presented by Memphis CASA (Court-Appointed Special Advocates). Each year, the project brings attention to the issue of child abuse and the need for child advocates.
On March 27, students will help plant stakes with blue ribbons in the Victorian Village Park located across from the Shelby County Juvenile Court on Adams Avenue. Each stake represents an abused or neglected child who went through the local court system last year without a CASA volunteer.
The goal is to plant over 3,300 stakes that will stand throughout April which is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. To learn more, visit www.memphiscasa.org.
