Please join the Department of English in welcoming Professor Peggy Whitman Prenshaw to Rhodes College. She will present a lecture entitled "Composing a Life: Southern Women and Autobiography".

Professor Prenshaw is Fred C. Frey Professor of Southern Studies Emerita at Louisiana State University and Millsaps College Humanities Scholar-in-Residence. She is the author of Elizabeth Spencer and editor of Conversations with Eudora Welty. She received a lifetime achievement award from the Society for the Study of Southern Literature, and the Charles Frankel Prize for service to the humanities. Her latest book is Composing Selves: Southern Women and Autobiography, which was awarded the 2011 Jules and Frances Landry Award, presented by Louisiana State University Press to recognize a significant contribution to the field of southern studies.
