Shadrack Nasong′o Publishes New Book on Kenya’s Struggle for Democracy

Dr. Shadrack W. Nasong′o, assistant professor of international studies at Rhodes, has coedited a new book titled Kenya: The Struggle for Democracy (London: Zed Books). This comprehensive study of Kenya′s political trajectory shows how the struggle for democracy has been waged in civil society, through opposition parties, and among groups like women and the young.
In addition, Nasong’o’s article "Transition Without Transformation: The Dialectic of Liberalization Without Democratization in Kenya and Zambia" has been published in the African Studies Review (Vol. 50, No. 1, 2007, pp. 83-107).
