Transfer Students

You’re considered a transfer student if you’ve taken more than two courses in a single term at another accredited college. We encourage you to apply if you think Rhodes is a better fit than your current institution.

Will I receive transfer credit?

If you’re accepted for admission, we’ll review your work and let you know which credits will apply toward our degree requirements. All students must satisfy the same requirements to receive a Rhodes diploma.

What about competitive and need-based financial assistance?

As a transfer applicant, you’ll be considered for all competitive awards (except the Bellingrath, Bonner and Taylor Fellowships) and any need-based assistance for which you qualify.

What’s the procedure to apply to Rhodes?

You may apply either online or by traditional paper application. And while we waive the $45 application fee for online applicants, all applications receive equal consideration.

As you follow the steps outlined below, take time to ensure that everything is complete, accurate and has all required signatures (if using a paper application) so we can process your application without delay.

Step 1: Review our admissions application and financial aid deadlines.

  • The deadline for transfer applicants is May 1st. We will accept applications after that date but cannot guarantee availability for qualified applicants.

Step 2: Begin your application.

I want to apply online.

  • You may complete the Common Application online
  • Submit the Rhodes Common Application Supplement.

I want to submit a paper application.

Step 3: Submit the appropriate supporting materials.

  • Official final transcripts from your secondary school (including SAT and/or ACT scores) and all post-secondary institutions you’ve attended should be sent to the Office of Admissions.
  • Give the College Official′s Report to the appropriate dean or college official to complete.
  • Give the College Instructor Evaluation to one of your college professors to complete.
  • You must submit the Mid-Term Report from your professors if you are applying for spring enrollment.
  • Include a letter explaining the reasons you wish to transfer to Rhodes.
  • Submit the CSS PROFILE (Rhodes code: 1730) and FAFSA (Rhodes Title IV code: 003519) if you are applying for need-based financial aid.

Step 4: If possible, schedule a campus visit and interview with one of our Admissions staff.

It’s not required, but it gives us an opportunity to know you beyond the information on your application—and may influence our decision when evaluating candidates for admission.
